PORT JERVIS, NY – Port Jervis Rotary’s Flags for Heroes participation raises funds that are 100 percent used to fund scholarship for local graduating seniors. This program allows anyone to salute a hero or heroes in their life, or anywhere.  It also allows for Rotary fundraising to assist students with often overwhelming costs of college.

On Saturday, June 1, at 12 noon, a dedication of Port Jervis' Field of Flags was held at the corner lot beautiful U.S. flag display at East Main Street and Sullivan Avenue.

Speakers included Rotary President Howard Kuperman, Rotarian Patty Niosi, Mayor Dominic Cicalese, and Karen Layland who provided a moving invocation.  The Broome Street Band provided patriotic music including the opening Star-Spangled Banner and closing God Bless America.  Medallions featuring the names of dozens of heroes honored by sponsorship of flags were presented to those who submitted their names for inclusion as a hero.

The Rotary thanks all who continue to support this program each year.

Flags will remain on display from May 1-July 8.

See attached photos of program booklet listing names of honorees on this year’s U.S. flag display.
