The driver of a car with Pennsylvania license plates was assisted this evening when his car swerved to avoid another vehicle, hit a parking lot post and rolled over.
Several residents of the area stated they were in the 100 Pike Street lot at the time of the accident, just after 8 p.m. Once the vehicle was stationary on its side, they cut the air bag to allow the driver to move within the car. The driver was then able to get himself upright and to an opening to self-extricate. He was assisted by emergency responders as he exited the vehicle.
Port Jervis Police, Fire, and Ambulance were on scene to assist. Fortunately. the driver had no serious injuries and was walking around on scene awaiting the arrival of a tow truck, just before 9 p.m.
